Today was supposed to be a holiday, but I was joined
a Training course in HRD since 2 weeks ago, it just a short course though, only
4 meeting, today was the third meeting. I was got up at 6 AM and then took a
pray, after finished Subuh prayer, I got ready for going to the course. Around
8.15 AM I went to the course place at Dozen Building, Asia Afrika Street No.39.
Today’s first lesson was about
Compensation and Benefits. Briefly, Compensation is the salary and wages you
pay to your employees for the work they do. For example is salary, bonus/commission/incentive.
And Benefit is nonfinancial terms of compensation which can be offered to
attract and retain staff. Such as career opportunities, work recognition, safe
and comfortable work environment. The main purpose of giving compensation and
benefit is to attract, to maintain, to motivate and to satisfy the employees so
they keep stay and work for the company.
At 12 PM, there was a break for
pray and lunch until around 12.15 PM. After that the course continued to the
next lesson about Assessment Center. One thing that must be paid attention is
Assessment Center is not a place /physical location/a building named Assesment
Center, it is a method to identify and pick employees, which has a potential in
terms of managerial skill to occupy a certain position in the future (future
responsibility). Based on an analysis of the skills and competencies for the
job in question exercises for the candidates are selected in order to reveal
information regarding qualities and attributes.
After the course finished, I went
to Gerai Indosat and 3 Store to asked if my mobile phone can be used in Japan.
Around 8 PM I arrived at my boarding house. There was so many things I learned
today about Human Resources Department which is not really my area of study, it
was quite difficult though, but I want to learn about that because seeing my
seniors now in college who has graduated, they didn’t always got a job which
appropriate with their subject in college, sometimes they got a job in company as
HRD or Accounting and so on, and they said it’s difficult because it was
something that they didn’t learn at college. So I think this course perhaps
could help me increase my knowledge to help me getting a job easier someday in
the future.
